Community concert during pandemic at Moscow Clayworks (Moscow, PA, USA)
Contribution and connection are core beliefs that shape my artistic value. I’ve always believed that art and music transcend boundaries—they speak directly to the heart and bring peopel together. I’m truly excited to share three upcoming community—focused series I’ll be performing in this fall, all of which are free and open to the public.
On September 12 – 13, I’m honored to join a residency at Hamilton College in Clinton, NY titled Art Under Pressure: Repression of Music Under Stalin & Echoes Today, exploring how music survived and evolved under political repression. Highlights include a panel discussion with scholars of Russian literature and history (Sept. 12) and a multimedia concert (Sept. 13), where I’ll perform Weinberg’s Piano Quintet, Op. 18 alongside violinists Shem Guibbory, Edgar Tumajyan, cellist Andrey Tchekmazov, and pianist Sar-Shalom Strong.
Back at home in Yunlin, Taiwan on September 27, I’m excited to join a group of young Taiwanese musicians for Harmonic Heritage & Starlit Brilliance, a festive concert celebrating timeless works from opera and chamber music. It’s a joy to collaborate again with pianist Chiao-Han Liao and violinist Hsuan-Hao Hsu—fellow Curtis alumni—as well as clarinetist Chao-Chih Chen and cellist Tzu-Wei Huang from my New York musical family.
This October, I’ll be part of Crafting Friendships, a month-long exhibition in Scranton, PA, curated by Moscow Clayworks, that celebrates long-standing artistic and personal connections in the Scranton community. I’ll perform two mini solo viola recitals at the opening receptions on October 3 in each gallery, featuring music by living composer friends - Garth Knox, Daniel Temkin, Che-Yi Lee, and Dave Soldier—dedicated to the spirit of the art show: friendships through art.
